James M. Seif, Esq., has been appointed to the Board of Directors of BioChem Technology, Inc. BioChem Technology is a premier, international provider of advanced process controls to the municipal wastewater industry. Seif’s appointment was announced at BioChem’s King of Prussia headquarters by Board Chairman, Lewis Somers. “Jim has had a long, but informal, relationship with BioChem and its President George Lee”, Somers said. “We welcome him to the board because his-life long dedication to improving the environment and community betterment.”

Jim Seif has worked for PPL Corporation of Allentown as its Vice President of Corporate Relations since 2001. He currently serves as a Trustee on the board of the Academy of Natural Sciences (Philadelphia), as a member of the Advisory Committee of Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and as a member of the Dick Thornburgh Archival Collection Advisory at the University of Pittsburgh.
He is best known as Pennsylvania’s Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection from 1995 to 2001. In that position Jim is credited with establishing the Department’s Land Recycling Program, leading the development of the “Growing Greener” initiatives for a variety of environmental projects, served as a member of the Chesapeake Bay Commission, as well as dozens of other programs less well known but no less important.
Prior to heading the PA DEP Jim has worked in private law practice and served as the Regional Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Region III in Philadelphia. Jim is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law. He lives with his wife, Patricia, in Blue Bell, Montgomery County, PA.
